Franchise realtors® must include their exorbitant infrastructure costs in their commissions. I am affiliated with the independent Drake Realty of Greater Atlanta, inc. Drake offers extraordinary services for qualified real estate agents, while charging low office fees - allowing me to pass on these savings to my clients. (For the record, I believe that after years of earning huge real estate commissions, we the professionals owe our industry some assistance to help all of us recover momentum). 
 
Large commissions have less to do with marketing your house, and are more about preserving an outdated, pre-Internet business model. Do you really want to pay for a crew of assistants who run the business for an agent who spends every working hour marketing themselves? When it takes a week to call for feedback, your listing is entered incorrectly, your agent is never available for a conversation, you have no virtual tour, why are you paying 6-7% sales commission?
